What is a POS?
POS stands for point of sale (or point of service). Most POS systems are integrated into a computer and provide payment processing. Depending on what your business does there are various different POS systems that can provide additional business services:
- Time Keeping
- Inventory of Sale Items
- Pricing of Inventory
- Coupon Codes
- Department Classification of Products
- Sales Consultant (for commissions)
Various POS systems will allow you to scan barcodes, price tags, or key in item numbers. In most you are able to process Credit Cards, Debit Cards, and Checks and also allocate for cash sales.
