New Application Security Mandates Presented by VISA®
The new year means new security tactics for merchants, agents, vendors, ISO’s, and acquiring banks to fight against thieves. VISA® launched a set of mandates in October of 2007 dedicated to help protect consumers and merchants. These mandates focus on the compliance of vender issued non-secure payment applications. If a merchant’s application is not PCI Compliant, then the merchant is not PCI Compliant as well. This can pose serious problems if a breach of security occurs. VISA®’s new mandates started implementation on January 1, 2008 and will continue in phases until July 1, 2010.
