Wireless credit card processing helps reduce the risk of non traditional merchants enabling them to sell anywhere, anytime and anyplace and still swipe credit and debit cards. It allows for a merchant to connect via cellular signal to process a swiped credit card from any location that a signal can be obtained. This has enabled merchants that used to take manual imprints of credit cards and paid card not present rates to finally have qualifying transactions.

The wireless terminals range in price from $600-$1000.00. You have 3 options for providers of cellular service to ensure that you have coverage where you need it. The provider for GPRS terminals is Cingular, the provider for Mobitex terminals is Velocita, and the provider for CDMA terminals is Sprint. Most wireless gateways fees with the cellular will be around $25 per month and $0.15 per transaction.

Although the terminals are more expensive and there is an additional gateway fee, it comes off more economical in the long run. Since there will be no transactional downgrades from manually keying transactions you are saving yourself at least 1% of your monthly processing volume. You are also reducing risks of chargebacks (unauthorized use/fraud claims) by swiping the cards.
